APIF-DAISY Accessible Publishing Programme

In the second half of 2022 the Africa Publishing Innovation Fund and the DAISY Consortium - a world authority on publishing for people with visual impairments and other print disabilities - are offering African publishers free expert training on the production of accessible works.

The APIF-DAISY Accessible Publishing in Africa Program started with a free webinar called Accessible Publishing in Africa – the Fundamentals, delivered in English, French, and Arabic, on 5, 6, and 7 July. Close to 200 people from 35 countries signed up for these sessions, which you can watch here:

In the next phases of programme, we will be offering free technical training and support to any organisation or individual that wants to produce accessible content and bring it to market.

September ➡️ We'll publish an interactive online course and complementary workshop sessions with a higher level of technical detail and expertise.

October ➡️ DAISY will offer specific, targeted training on a selection of prevalent accessible publishing workflows.

November ➡️ We will publicize details of an under-development grant scheme to support publishers and other stakeholders who are passionate about creating accessible works for African readers.
